Following on from Sovereign Order 605 of 1 August 2006 making trafficking in human beings a criminal offence, Sovereign Order 9.966 of 30 June 2023 provides the Principality with more comprehensive legislation to combat trafficking in human beings.<\/p>\n

This Order introduced new aggravating circumstances directly applicable to the offence of trafficking in human beings (Art. 9):<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. a) the offence endangered the life of the victim deliberately or through gross negligence ;<\/li>\n
  2. b) the offence was committed against a minor ;<\/li>\n
  3. c) the offence was committed by a public official in the performance of his or her duties; or<\/li>\n
  4. d) the offence was committed as part of a criminal organisation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In the event of aggravating circumstances, the penalty will be ten to twenty years’ imprisonment as well as the fine provided for in article 26, number 4 of the Criminal Code, the maximum of which may be multiplied by twenty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
